Ribbons of GOLS certified organic latex (CU863867), made sustainably from our facilities in India and Guatemala, provide support and structure for our Green Pillow. The organic latex is a natural, high-performance material, offering exceptional resilience, durability, and temperature control.

For a luxurious and premium finish, we use GOTS-certified organic cotton in a soft, natural color. Our organic cotton, which we use for a gentle, breathable cover, is responsibly and sustainably harvested in India exclusively for us without pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. Our organic cotton has received STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification (15.HIN.75800, Hohenstein HTTI), to ensure no harmful substances are present as a result of processing, including banned substances, toxic chemicals, pesticides, and dyes.

With the smoothness of silk and the fluffiness of cotton, GOTS certified organic kapok fiber (CU863867) is an ideal eco-conscious pillow stuffing. It is a softer, lighter, and vegan alternative to down. The fiber has natural, fluffy loft. It's also hypoallergenic, sustainable, biodegradable, non-toxic, and grown pesticide-free.

Our Green Pillows ship in a modest craft box. On one side of the box you'll find your new pillow — compressed and rolled. The other side of the box contains a bag of extra fill — a generous mix of GOLS certified organic latex(CU863867) and natural, fluffy fiber from the Kapok tree. Adding more fill to your pillow is a snap. Directions on the inside of the box show you how. Just unzip the pillow and the pillow's inner liner to add more fill. (Please note: our pillows and mattresses usually ship separately, and may arrive at different times.)

The Avocado Green Pillow contains no chemical flame retardants, which are known to release VOCs and impact human health. We do not add them because we believe they generally do more harm than good. (FYI: Pillows are not required to pass the Standard for the Flammability of Mattresses and Mattress Pads, issued by the CPSC. Therefore, it is logical that ignition sources should be kept safely away from any pillow that contains natural materials without the use of chemical flame retardants.)

Avocado vegan products contain no animal products or animal byproducts, such as wool. We do, however, produce products that do contain wool, and shared machinery and facilities are used between our vegan and non-vegan products. However, we have demonstrated verifiable acceptable steps that we take to thoroughly clean and sanitize all surfaces, tools, and machinery used between vegan and non-vegan production cycles to minimize cross-contamination.

As a Climate Neutral Certified company since 2019, we've measured Avocado's annual cradle-to-consumer emissions, offset them by investing in climate change solutions, and started taking real action to reduce our emissions. From materials to manufacturing and shipping, we understand that every small decision contributes to our larger impact. In 2022, we expanded our productions facility footprint from two to five while still increasing the amount of waste we diverted from landfills by 9%, achieving an overall waste diversion rate of 78%.
